linkUri with URI that has #

I have the following markup:

<externalLink>
   <linkText>ArcGIS Web Adaptor (IIS)</linkText>
    <linkUri>http://resources.arcgis.com/en/help/main/10.1/index.html#//01540000028p000000</linkUri>
 </externalLink>

The issue is that the URI contains the # character.  I say that because the URI in the help which is built omits this portion and thus is incorrect.  I tried to use an encoded URI but that did not seem to work well either.

Suggestions?

The link is rendered properly and it works in Help Viewer and Website formats so it must be a limitation of the Help 1 viewer.  It has issues with help files when their path contains a "#" so that may carry over to URLs within the file too.

Thanks for the rapid response Eric.

Since my help is standalone, it sounds like I should just try and avoid using #.

I might try using tinyurl to avoid this.
