I am using Sandcastle Version 2.4.10520 and Sandcastle Help File Builder and I want to create a HtmlHelp2x file for a couple of projects(10 and 7 dependencies).
After a while (30 minutes), I get this exception and BuildAssembler.exe fails. Durind the buid time, I can see lots of connections (30 or more...) to from BuildAssembler.

Warn: ResolveReferenceLinksComponent2: Unknown reference link target 'P:System.Windows.Forms.Control.ImeModeBase'.

Unhandled Exception: System.InvalidOperationException: There is an error in XML document (1, 1110). ---> System.Net.WebException: The operation has timed out.

The connections are normal when you have the SdkLinkType set to MSDN.  It tries to contact the MSDN web service to resolve links to online-content for the base framework members.  If you are behind a proxy server, you may need to create a config file so that it can make the connection.  If you've just got a slow connection, you may just have to disable the option by setting SdkLinkType to None.  The downside to that is that the help file won't contain links for the base framework types, just bold text.  See the FAQ in the help file for more information on both subjects.

Adding the cached build components to the ComponentConfigurations property can help but it will need to get through at least one build to create the caches.  See the cached build component help topic for more information.
