This is a fine piece of software, my thanks to the developer(s).

I'm trying to figure out how to best replicate the effects of NDoc's ExtensibilityStylesheet option, which allowed creating simple reusable macros by specifying additional XSLT transformations.

For example, I used it to convert:
a null reference (<b>Nothing</b> in Visual Basic)

My only thought so far is to modify Sandcastle's XSLT files (e.g. Sandcastle\Presentation\Prototype\Transforms\main_sandcastle.xsl) to include my macros. That seems a little heavy-handed, and I'm an XSLT novice.

Any better ideas? Thanks,

I think modifying the Sandcastle transformations is the only option at this point. There's a blog post on how to do it. With regard to <null/>, the <see langword="null"/> should do what you want.

Thanks very much. All I needed was <see langword=...>. Maybe when Sandcastle is documented this will be as well.
