Hello,

I like your Sandcastle Help File Builder. Currently, I use only the html generation. But I want to enable embedded MSDN Help for our libraries. The sandcastle builder supports currently the generation of a .HXS file.

How can I register this file, to view my help contents in Visual Studio 2005? I have played with h2reg, but I can't figured out, how to use ist.

many thanx,

Sorry, I don't know. You can try asking in the MSDN Documentation forum.

IMHO H2Reg is simple for managing help files :-)

To register your help file under VS 2005 with h2Reg just add following section in your ini file:

Reg_Plugin
;<nsNameParent>|<HxTParent>|<nsNameChild>|<HxTChild>|<HxA_Child>
MS.VSCC.v80|DEFAULT|<typeyourregisterednamespacehere>|DEFAULT|

to unregister (ie when uninstall is performed) use this section definition
UnReg_Plugin
;<nsNameParent>|<HxTParent>|<nsNameChild>|<HxTChild>|<HxA_Child>
MS.VSCC.v80|DEFAULT|<typeyourregisterednamespacehere>|DEFAULT|

... you will find more information on H2Reg homepage.

I use H2Reg together with FAR HTML - this is good tool for viewing / managing MS Help2 files and namespaces

In order for H2Reg to integrate properly you will need to create a set of collection files (COL_xxx.hxs and friends).

The single HXS file that Sandcastle spits out it suitable for use with the help-integration wizard in Visual Studio -- this is a free download:
http://www.helpware.net/mshelp2/vs8/vs8help.htm

The Help Integration Wizard will help you build an MSI installer that plugs the help into Visual Studio.
