Backlink to the Assembly

Hi,

I know this may sound silly... but how do I link the assembly to the help file SHFB generates?

You'll need to be more specific. What exactly are you trying to do?

Hi,

Quite simple actually.

I want that when the user presses F1 to be directed to the respective help topic. How do I do this?

Assuming you mean within Visual Studio, you'll need to build a Help 2 (HxS) file and integrate it into the help collection. The current SHFB release produces some collection files in the same folder as the compiled HxS file. However, you need to edit them to remove the DTD stuff needed during compilation (the "SYSTEM" keyword and the URL). You also need to use the help integration wizard or preferably H2Reg to install them into the collection. I'd suggest H2Reg as it makes things much simpler.

The next release of SHFB will contain much better support for Help 2 files. It cleans up the collection files and automatically creates an H2Reg.ini file to make it simple to merge your help files into the VS collections. It also contains some new project-level properties for Help 2 file and the ability to define additional MSHelp:Attr elements such as additional DocSet entries so that filtering will work correctly.

A new release of Sandcastle is supposed to be out sometime this month though that may change. If it is released, the next SHFB release will be out within a week after that. If I hear back that it isn't going to be released yet, I'll probably go ahead and issue another beta for the time being.
