# in directory name?

Should Sandcastle Help File Builder be able to handle a # in a directory name? I seem to end up with an unusable help file.

See the FAQ in the SHFB help file, it's a limitation of Help 1 (CHM) files.

Oops.

OK. Renaming my directory is the right solution but it is going to be a little painful. As a workaround I tried copying all the assemblies and xml files to another directory. This fixed that error, so I guess I'll use that as a workaround for now.

Just out of curiosity ... since this is a known .chm limitation would it be possible to teach sandcastle to rewrite it to an HTML safe URL? e.g. transform # to %23 ... would that work?

You'd have the same problem no matter what you used to start the file including Explorer so encoding the path won't make a difference.
