It's very strange, because in the same day I tried it on my home computer (it has the same configuration) and no errors.

I decided it's fate and download DocProject and got the same error!

Then I downloaded source code and tried to compile and launch - the same error!

After some minutes of googling I decided to set platform x86 (instead of AnyCPU) for SandcastleBuilderGui project - and it works!

Maybe somebody will find this helpfull.

That's the first time I've heard of the issue.  I run Windows 7 64-bit both at work and at home and haven't had any issues with SHFB.  Many others do too.

I'm agree, it's very strange issue. I could reproduce it only on my work computer. I tried set up shfb on two others computers (windows 7 x64) and no errors. I'm sure, shfb is not the cause of it. I only hope that my post helps somebody if one encounters this problem too.

You might be able to use the corflags utility to force the executable to run in 32-bit mode.  That would save recompling the code.

corflags SandcastleBuilderGUI.exe /32BIT+ /Force

As I recall, corflags.exe is distributed with the Windows SDK and some versions of the Visual Studio SDK.
